3 Killed, 2 Injured In Gunfire Near University Of Cincinnati Campus In US

<p>Five people were shot in a gunfire incident near the University of Cincinnati campus in the early hours of Monday morning, resulting in the death of three people, police said.</p> <p>According to a report in Associated Press, two people were taken into custody, including one of injured person.</p> <p>&ldquo;There were multiple firearms recovered at the crime scene and two subjects (one of which was also shot) are being detained at this time,&rdquo; the report cited the Cincinnati police Capt Mark Burns as saying.</p> <p>No further information was provided on the incident.</p> <p>Earlier, the public safety department of the university posted on the social media handle X stating that police were responding to an emergency shortly before 3 am. Upon arrival at the scene of the shot, they found several people suffering from gunshot wounds. They confirmed all five shots were men.</p> <p>Cincinnati Police Department Captain Mark Burns said that five males were shot near Highland and East University avenues, which is less than a mile from the campus. The shooting incident occurred around 2:50 a.m., Burns informed the Cincinnati Enquirer, a part of the USA TODAY Network.</p> <p>Three victims were transported to a hospital, where doctors later pronounced two of them dead, according to police spokesperson Lt. Jonathan Cunningham, who spoke to USA TODAY on Monday.</p> <p>Another individual later arrived at the same hospital on their own for treatment of at least one gunshot wound.
